Above is one of my recent sketches that I have rendered out for practice. I think it made a nice spot illustration. I always love the idea of a pet fox. I remember my grandfather showing me a photo of him as a young man with a pet fox. I think this one could have come out better but the figure came out very nice.
While working on this and the contest entry I will be sharing with you next week I have been listening to podcasts that get me pumped up about illustration. I listen to Chris Oatley's artcasts and also lately I've begun listening to PaperWings by him and Lora Innes. Paperwings is mostly about storytelling as it relates to animation and comics. Chris works in animation and mentors and teaches artists and illustrators through his own online school and Lora has a long running web comic "The Dreamer" that she draws and writes very awesomely. The best podcast I've listened to recently that struck a chord with me was the PaperWings post called "What to do when your dream seems far away". If you, like me, are a visual artist or writer and feel a twinge of pain when you read that title then listen to it for some great advice and encouragement. I'll be back soon with my newest contest entry for the SVS (School of Visual Storytelling). Stay tuned for more art. Misty

MistyThanks for stopping by. I'm a published illustrator working on getting better every day. My goal for my work is for it to be charming, bright and endearing. I share my ongoing work progress online because I welcome all the encouragement and feedback I can get as I try to improve my skills. I currently have a children's book project that I am nearing the end of. Archives
