If you have written or are planning on writing a book and are seeking an illustrator:
If you are a self-publishing writer, unfortunately, I can not illustrate your book. I am only able to work on jobs offered by publishers or my own personal stories and projects. If you are a writer and need to find an illustrator for your manuscript, first send it to a publisher along with a well written query letter, and if the publisher decides to publish your story, they will find an illustrator for your project.
One thing I would highly recommend if you are serious about writing children's books is to join the SCBWI (The Society of Children's Books Writer and Illustrators)- at scbwi.org. They have tons of rescources and info on how to get published. They have great local chapters in most places and great conferences. You can find critique groups where other authors can give you a good critique. You can find out about it at scbwi.org. Usually publishers find illustrators to illustrate a picture book manuscript. So when your manuscript is all ready, send it with a query letter to publishers. If you find a publisher who wants to publish your manuscript, then they will find an illustrator that matches your story and style of writing.
Exception: The one exception to all this is if I know you personally and we choose to produce a joint project together. Publishers do sometimes consider a book that has been produced by an author and illustrator in conjunction. This is not a 'for hire' situation, but rather a collaboration. If I know you personally and you would like to discuss a collaborative project, then contact me about it. Please know however that these type of projects can take a lot of time and at this time I am already in the midst of a few. I would be happy to meet with you about a future project we may be able to schedule.
